She burned.  A death she did not deserve.  All she wanted was to be free; a normal human.  But she went insane trying to achieve her dream.  She had to be stopped before she caused anyone else pain.  And the only way to do it at the time was to destroy her.  It was that, or for Ib and Gary to be killed.
